Here you will find the answers to frequently asked questions about My Global Welcome, the world’s first two-sided online marketplace that connects travelers, future expats and employers with their fellow countrymen living abroad.

Expats already living abroad:

 

1. My activity, service, business or product is not yet listed.

If you don’t find a suitable option, please contact us here.

 

2. I would like to get to know fellow countrymen or other expats living around me.

In this case, go to the Homepage and make your selection.  

 

3. I would also like to use My Global Welcome to look for fellow countrymen.

In this case, you need to sign up with a different e-mail address from the one you used as an expat living abroad.

Travelers and future expats:

 

1. Do I need to sign up to contact my fellow countrymen abroad directly?

If you only want to see the profile page of your fellow countrymen abroad or in your new country of residence, you don’t need to sign up. If you want to contact them directly, you need to sign up to become a member of My Global Welcome first.

 

2. Can I upgrade my current Pro subscription to Premium?

Yes, you can. In this case, you would only have to pay the €5 difference between the Pro and Premium subscription.

My mother tongue is different from the 5 languages that the website has been translated into as of today.

 

These 5 languages were chosen because they make up some of the most widespread languages in the world. At this time, we have also opted to use English as the lingua franca of international communication for the drop-down menu that shows all the countries of the world.

 

Moreover, if you are an expat living abroad and you fill in the registration form, you can enter information in your mother tongue, whatever it may be. When your fellow countrymen open your profile page, they will be able to read this information in your shared mother tongue.  

What about trust and safety on My Global Welcome?

 

It is expected that My Global Welcome members are honest and aware of their responsibilities as travelers, future expats, employers and expats already living abroad. Furthermore, we take the following additional precautions:  

 

° Profile pages:

Everyone on My Global Welcome has a profile page to help people get to know each other.

 

Travelers, future expats and employers are asked to provide My Global Welcome with their full name, date of birth, country and city of residence, and e-mail address.

Expats living abroad are asked to provide My Global Welcome with their full name, photo, date and country of birth, country and city of residence, and e-mail address.

 

° Secure messaging:

Any exchange of information can be done through My Global Welcome’s chat portal.

 

° Ratings:

If you would like to know what others thought of the personalized or professional activities and/ or services that were offered from your fellow countrymen abroad, all you have to do is look at their ratings. Travelers, future expats and employers can only leave their rating after an activity and/ or service is complete: therefore you know the feedback you’re seeing is based on actual experiences.

 

On top of that, you should never forget to apply usual basic safety precautions when meeting a person for the first time.

I’ve forgotten my password: how can I access my profile?

 

Click on LOG IN. Under the items “E-mail” and “Password,” you will find the question: “Have you forgotten your password?”. Click on this question and then enter the e-mail address you registered with again. We will send a new password to the e-mail you supplied us with.
